A student pursuing a postgraduate degree in computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has heaped praise on the institute, comparing it to a “tech nerd’s paradise” in his viral post on social media platform X. Vijendra Kumar Vaishya, who is a month into his master’s degree, shared a thread about his study and stay experience at IIT Bombay which quickly went viral on X.
Among other things, Vijendra was impressed by the “fantastic” lab equipment at IIT Bombay and the Computer Science Department where you can always find people with their laptops.
“It’s been a month in Bombay Institute of Technology“I’m living my dream college life, making friends, connections, and all the fun,” Vijendra wrote on X before summing up his college experience in seven points.
Life at IIT Bombay
He said that IIT Bombay does not have Hostel restrictions, meaning there is no curfew even for female students. “Yes, you read that right, girls’ hostels don’t lock either!” she posted.
Then, regarding the number of classes he must attend, the master’s student explained that he has classes only two days a week.
“The CSE department is like a techie’s paradise. You’ll find people with their laptops and endless coffee, and plenty of quiet places to hang out,” Vijendra said in point number three.
I was deeply grateful to the laboratory team at Bombay Institute of Technologywhich is consistently ranked among the top technical universities in India. “The lab team is fantastic – if you have any questions, just ask. The seniors are always willing to help and don’t even get grumpy about it,” the student explained.
Life in the IIT Bombay hostel
Vijendra Kumar Vaishya described the IIT Bombay hostels as “cozy” but said he often ends up sleeping in the CSE department at night instead of going back to his room. “The campus is basically one giant study hall,” he said. In separate posts, the master’s student explained that he lives in hostel 17.
Hostel food did not seem to be a problem for Vijendra, as it is for most other students. He said food can be ordered inside the hostel 24/7.
However, as point number six, he added a caveat to all the praise: “You will be too busy to date. Your new love will be labs, homework, and events.”
Lastly, he said that IIT Bombay has several facilities like a gymnasium, a hospital, tennis courts and a swimming pool. “Basically, if you are not studying, you are working out or swimming,” he concluded.
