Babar AzamBabar, who has been going through a rough patch, showed shades of his usual form for the Stallions in his side’s second match of the Champions One-day Cup in Faisalabad. The Stallions lost the match after being bowled out for just 105 while chasing 232 against the Markhors, however, Babar’s runs and the manner in which he scored them were a good sign for the Pakistan team ahead of the Test series in England next month.

Babar scored 45 runs per ball, including 20 in just one over against pacer Shahnawaz Dahani. Babar hit five fours in a row against Dahani, with his strokeplay on full display at the Iqbal Stadium. After starting the eighth over of the Stallions’ innings with a no-spin ball, Dahani struck short on the next delivery only to be hit by Babar towards the deep mid-wicket boundary.

A length ball was sent towards third man on the third delivery before Dahani hit it again to short and Babar cut it towards behind point for the third consecutive boundary. Another short ball outside off stump was played beautifully through the covers before Dahani struck again on the last delivery to be pulled fiercely for another boundary towards deep mid-wicket.
