The Ministry of Railways has renamed the Bhuj-Ahmedabad line Vande Metro to Namo Bharat Fast TrainAfter the partial launch of India’s first express railway line between Delhi and Meerut, another express railway line will connect two cities in Gujarat. The new Namo Bharat railway line will improve intercity connectivity by covering the distance of 359 kilometres between Bhuj and Ahmedabad in 5 hours and 45 minutes, with halts at nine stations along the way.

The Namo Bharat Rapid Public Train service will start on September 17 from Ahmedabad.

Unlike other metro services that cover shorter distances, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is designed to connect central Ahmedabad with surrounding cities. The train features 12 coaches with a seating capacity of 1,150, ergonomic seating, fully air-conditioned cabins and modular interiors, making it superior to other metro services.

The Rapid train is equipped with advanced safety systems such as KAVACH for collision avoidance, fire detection and fire suppression using aerosols, as well as emergency lighting.

Ahmedabad-Bhuj Namo Bharat: Route, stops and schedules

The Namo Bharat express train will depart from Bhuj at 5:05 am and reach Ahmedabad at 10:50 am, taking 5 hours and 45 minutes. The return journey will depart Ahmedabad at 5:30 pm and arrive Bhuj at 11:10 pm, covering the distance in 5 hours and 40 minutes.

The train will operate 6 days a week. Train number 94802 will not run on Sundays and train number 94801 will not run on Saturdays.

Fare structure and special features of Namo Bharat express train

The minimum fare for Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is Rs 30, and weekly, fortnightly and monthly passes are priced based on the number of single journeys. The fare will be rounded to the nearest multiple of Rs 5. The usual child fare rules will apply. The journey will cost passengers Rs 455 between the two stations.

Manufactured at ICF Chennai, the Namo Bharat express train is based on the Vande Bharat Express platform but is designed for shorter distances with a maximum speed of 130 km/hr. It includes features like improved acceleration and deceleration, fully sealed walkways for a dust-free environment and seating for 1,150 passengers, with additional standing capacity.
