Bihar got Rs 1 lakh 84 thousand 344 crore, Modi govt opens coffers for basic facilities

Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi often says during his visit to Bihar that the dream of a developed India cannot be achieved without the development of Bihar and other backward states. The result of this mindset is that the Modi government at the Centre has opened the treasury for Bihar. The government formed for the third time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by allocating an amount of Rs 58,900 crore to Bihar in the general budget presented for 2024-25 confirmed that the development of Bihar is part of the commitment of the central government. Similarly, Bihar has received a total of around Rs 1,25,444 crore in net revenue from taxes and union dues. This is not the first time that the central government has shown favours to Bihar. A lot of work for basic facilities in Bihar was done in Modi 1.0 and Modi 2.0 also.

Modi government opens treasury for Bihar

If we look at the numbers, under special assistance to states for capital expenditure and investments, Bihar received Rs 8,814 crore in 2023-24, Rs 8,455 crore in 2022-23, Rs 1,246 crore in 2021-22, Rs 843 crore in 2020-21. Which is proving to be a milestone in the development of Bihar.

Though there has been a demand for a special state status for Bihar, the BJP claims that the central government is helping Bihar more than that. It is said that under Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, ration is being provided to 1.71 crore people. Under Jan Dhan Yojana, those people who had not reached the bank till now also reached the bank’s doorstep. Under this scheme, bank accounts of over 5.61 crore people have been opened in the state.

Money is pouring in for roads and electricity too

To improve traffic, the Modi government approved a bridge over the Ganga at a cost of Rs 6,800 crore. Not only this, metro works began in Patna during this period. Apart from this, the airport was started in Darbhanga, Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana worth Rs 175 crore was approved in Madhubani and the Assam-Darbhanga Expressway was approved at a cost of Rs 230 crore. A 1,360 MW power project was completed at Chausa, Buxar, while a 130 MW hydroelectric project was approved on the Kosi river. Electricity was considered the biggest problem in Bihar, but today the NDA government has provided electricity to every house in the state.

Three expressways have been approved to take Bihar on the path of development at a rapid pace. The Centre for road projects has approved Rs 26,710 crore, which is the highest amount so far. A 13-km elevated road has been approved in Patna costing Rs 2,007 crore. Approval has been given for a 26-km long Vikramshila-Katariya new double line bridge over the Ganga at Bhagalpur at a cost of Rs 2,549 crore.

Fund for religious corridor and industry too

To make Bihar self-reliant and provide employment and self-employment opportunities, the cabinet has approved textile industry in Bhagalpur and Patna. Efforts are being made to put Bihar on the world stage of culture and spirituality by developing religious places at Rajgir associated with Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism and Vishnupad temple and Mahabodhi temple corridor at Gaya.

Bihar is generally considered to be backward in the field of education, but the Modi government has done many remarkable works. Engineering colleges and medical colleges were opened in Munger, Jhanjharpur and many other districts. The NDA government seemed determined to restore the glorious history of the oldest Nalanda University in the field of education. Taking inspiration from the history of Nalanda, it was determined to bring about a new revolution in education in the state. After 1600 years, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Nalanda University campus, he also announced to convert Bhagalpur Vikramshila University into a central university. In this way, these areas will be developed as tourist hubs. The glorious history will be restored.
