Washington:The Martin County Sheriff’s Office released body camera video showing the exact moments when Ryan Wesley Routh, the alleged Donald Trump Ryan’s killer has been arrested. On Sunday, the US Secret Service discovered the 58-year-old hiding at the Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ryan was arrested with an AK-47, a GoPro and a few other items.
The video shows Ryan wearing sunglasses, walking backwards with his hands on his head before being handcuffed and led away by law enforcement officers.
A police officer is heard saying: “Take two steps to the right. Come back straight and keep walking.”
‘Suspect lurked for 12 hours before being arrested’
Meanwhile, according to court documents filed on Monday, the gunman was hiding in bushes for 12 hours at the club before the former US president made an unscheduled decision to play a round of golf. However, Service agents spotted the barrel of Ryan’s rifle and shot him, after which he fled the scene.
While no injuries were reported, this is the second attempt on Trump’s life in as many months, raising questions about the security provided during a time of heightened political rhetoric and what the head of the Secret Service called an “unprecedented and hyper-dynamic threat environment.”
The incident comes just nine weeks after the July 13 shooting at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in which Trump was wounded by a gunman’s bullet.
Both presidents Joe Biden And Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump’s rival in the November election, denounced the foiled attack. Harris said in a post on X: “I’m glad he’s safe. Violence has no place in America.”
