The Chief Minister said that apart from this, the demand for CBI inquiry has already been fulfilled and the case is continuing under the supervision of the Supreme Court. The state government has nothing to do in this regard. It is noteworthy that the meeting which began around six pm on Monday continued till a quarter to twelve at night. On the other hand, after leaving the meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, the junior doctors reached the protest site and said that they had termed the removal of the Kolkata Police Commissioner, DMEE and DHS from their posts as a great success of their movement. However, they say that talks on many issues are meaningless and the strike will continue till the case is heard in the court on Tuesday. Speaking to the media at around 12.15 am, after the junior doctors’ delegation left the meeting and headed towards the protest site, the CM said that they (junior doctors) were also demanding the removal of the Health Secretary but it was explained to them that if all of them are removed together, the administrative difficulties will increase. In such a situation, the demand for their removal has not been accepted. The Chief Minister said that apart from 42 representatives of junior doctors, Minister of State for Health Chandrima Bhattacharya, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, Home Minister Nandini Chakraborty and Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar were also present at the meeting held at his residence. Ms. Banerjee said that those who attended the meeting also held discussions, it was documented and this draft was signed by Chief Secretary Shri Pant on behalf of the state government. On the other hand, 42 persons included in the junior doctors’ group signed.

Security committee formed

The Chief Minister informed the media that the issue of security of healthcare institutions is also important. The government takes it seriously. Keeping this fact in mind, it was decided that a committee comprising the Chief Secretary and the Home Minister has been formed, which will look into the matters related to security and give its opinion on what should be done in the future. It was also informed that even junior doctors will be able to speak on this issue if they wish to do so.
