Strong demand for MBBS in 6 senior Rajasthan medical colleges, very few seats left after first round, Career News

Six old and established medical colleges from Rajasthan, Kota, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner continue to be the top choice of NEET Pass candidates for MBBS admission. This is evident from the list of remaining seats available in medical colleges after the completion of admissions under the first round of counselling. This list has been released by the Office of the Chairman of NEET UG Medical and Dental Admissions at MMS Medical College. Only 35 out of 194 government seats are left for Round 2 admission in Kota Medical College. Thus, out of 193 government seats in Ajmer, 21 are left.

As per the Times of India report, 18 out of 194 government seats available in Udaipur, 11 out of 209 government seats in SMS Medical College, Jaipur, 22 out of 208 in Jodhpur Medical College and 21 out of 208 seats in Bikaner Medical Colleges are left. At the beginning of NEET UG counselling, a total of 5204 MBBS seats (including government quota, NRI reserved seats and management seats) were available for all categories in medical colleges in Rajasthan. With the first round over, only 2285 seats are left for the second round.

Of the 2,071 government seats available in Round 1 of counselling for MBBS admission, 534 seats remain for Round 2. Of these 534 seats, 128 are in six established old medical colleges, while the remaining seats are available in medical colleges run by the Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES). These were made available by the state government.

An official from the Department of Medical Education said that high-ranking NEET UG students prefer older medical colleges because they have better reputation and credibility. However, new medical colleges are also attracting students.
