Shares of Lupin Ltd. (up 0.83 percent), Cipla Ltd. (up 0.75 percent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (up 0.17 percent) ended the day as the top gainers among the group.
On the other hand, Biocon Ltd. (down 3.93 percent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd. (down 2.22 percent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (down 1.64 percent), JB Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (down 1.34 percent) and Gland Pharma Ltd. (down 1.07 percent) ended as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed down 0.28 per cent at 23,383.65.
The benchmark NSE Nifty50 index rose 34.8 points to close at 25,418.55, while the BSE Sensex rose 90.88 points to close at 83,079.66.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 ended in the green, while 25 closed in the red. Shares of Bajaj Housing Fin, Vodafone Idea, Ola Electric Mobilit, YES Bank and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded stocks on the NSE. Shares of Ecos(India)Mobilit, Aarti Surfactants, Silgo Retail, Modison Metals and Mallcom(India) hit their fresh 52-week highs today, while Xtglobal Infotech, Stampede Cap(DVR), Shree Tirupati Balaj, Tolins Tyres and Filatex Fashions hit their fresh 52-week lows.
