After review, the water will be released like this till further orders. Due to this, flood situations may arise in low lying areas. If sources are to be believed, in the year 2001, 3.25 lakh cusecs of water was released. Due to which many districts of Bengal were inundated. It is to be noted that due to low pressure, heavy rainfall has been recorded in many districts of Bengal and the adjoining state of Jharkhand in the last few days. Due to this, rivers are in spate. The water in Maithon and Panchet dams of DVC has reached the danger mark. Keeping this in mind, the quantity of water released has increased since Monday.

Flooding is a threat in some areas of Barakar

Due to the water released by the Maithon dam, a flood situation has arisen in some parts of the Barakar area adjacent to the dam. The district administration held a high-level meeting on this issue on Tuesday. District Magistrate Ponnambalam S. said that the administration is monitoring the entire situation. Discussions are also being held with senior officials of the DVC. The report has been sent to the state administration.
