Correspondent, Calcutta

Under the joint auspices of Ratangarh Citizen Council, Saharogya and Switch On Foundation, a seminar was organised at Mewar Banquet on the topic of diet and medicine. Former Rajya Sabha MP, RK Sinha, Vikas Nanglia and Suresh Kedia lit the lamp. While discussing in detail the various diseases he had faced in his life, Shri Sinha said that a few years ago, both his kidneys had failed but after coming in contact with Dr Khadar, due to change in his diet, there was incredible improvement in his health in the last six years. He said that Dr Khadar Wali, a famous dietician, Krishi Ratna and Padma Shri awardee in the year 2023, known as Millet Man of India, left his job worth crores in an American multinational company and dedicated his life to building a healthy society. A health song written by poet Chavinath Mishra was sung. Dr Khadar said that when our food habits are wrong, even medicines cannot do anything and if our food habits are right, then there is no need for medicines. The root causes of diseases are adulterated oil, ghee, milk, rice, wheat, sugar etc. Therefore, coarse cereals like millet, jowar, bajra, ragi etc. should be consumed. At the last G-20 conference, such diets were also given priority to world famous personalities.

Mahesh Bhuwalka, Lunkaran Sureka, Vishwambhar Dayal Saraf, Pawan Jalan, Shivkumar Choudhary, Shyamlal Choudhary, Harish Bhuwalka, Avinash Aggarwal, Sunita Jhunjhunwala, Poonam Jaju etc. helped in making the programme a success. Ramesh Nanglia, senior journalist Rathin Bandyopadhyay and Dr Chand were also present on the occasion. Products made from millets were displayed at the venue and were also kept for sale. The programme was conducted by Mahabir Prasad Rawat, special associate of the council.
