Applications for admission to UP D.El.Ed start today, last year 70 thousand places were vacant, Career News

Online applications for admission to 2,33,350 seats of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed or earlier BTC), which is mandatory for recruitment of assistant teachers in primary and higher schools in Uttar Pradesh, will begin from Wednesday. Applications will be accepted till October 9 and fees will be deposited by October 10. The merit-based state rank will be announced on October 16. The first phase of online counselling will be held from October 17 to October 30 and admissions will be held till November 13. The second phase of counselling will be held from November 20 to December 1 and admissions will be held till December 10. The coaching will begin from December 12.

Last year, 70,100 vacancies remained

Despite the Supreme Court order quashing the B.Ed in recruitment of primary school teachers, 70,100 D.El.Ed posts remained vacant last year. 3,36,187 candidates applied for a total of 2,33,350 posts spread across 10,600 posts in 67 district institutes of education and training (DIETs) in the state and 2,22,750 posts in 2,974 private colleges. Out of these, only 1,63,250 candidates took admission. Since no teachers have been recruited for six years, a large number of posts remain vacant. For this reason, candidates from other states have been given a chance this year also so that the seats do not remain vacant.

There are no reservations for candidates from other states in admission to D.El.Ed.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also opened the doors to candidates from other states for Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) training from this session. However, priority in admission will be given to candidates from UP only. This has been done so that only candidates from UP can get admission in the open seats of the District Institute of Education and Training. Not only this, candidates from outside UP will not get any reservation and all of them will remain in the unreserved category.

It will be mandatory for the candidate to produce the residence certificate issued by the competent authority of his/her home district in Uttar Pradesh till the date of admission, otherwise the candidate’s application form will be rejected. If the seats remain vacant after the first phase, candidates from other states will be given an opportunity to fill the vacant seats in the second phase.

Apart from candidates from Uttar Pradesh, all candidates from other states will be considered under unreserved category and no reservation will be given to such candidates.
