Agriculture Minister says Cabinet will provide subsidy on P&K fertilizers to boost farmers’ income | Agriculture

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said the government’s decision to provide a subsidy of Rs 24,475 crore on phosphate and potash (P&K) fertilisers for the rabi season would help reduce input costs for farmers and improve their income.

He also welcomed the Cabinet approval for continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) scheme till 2025-26 with an outlay of Rs 35,000 crore.

Welcoming the decision to subsidise P&K nutrients, Chouhan said in a post on social media ‘X’ that “this will ensure availability of fertilisers to farmers at affordable prices.”

The Cabinet decision would also give a further boost to the government’s commitment to reduce production costs, increase farmers’ incomes and make farming a profitable business, the minister added.

Chouhan said the PM-AASHA scheme will not only help in giving remunerative prices to farmers for their produce but will also check the volatility of commodity prices.

The minister said the Modi government is committed to the welfare of farmers.
