Former Nigerian football star Jay Jay Okocha has chosen between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi like his GOAT. Messi and Ronaldo They are often regarded as two of the greatest players of all time. The duo dominated the Ballon d’Or, football’s most prestigious individual award, for an unrivalled decade from 2008 to 2017. Although both Messi and Ronaldo are now in their 30s, they are still playing at the highest level and aim to further expand their already impressive trophy collections.
“Both are GOATs, but my personal GOAT is Messi because he seems more natural to me,” Okocha said in an interaction with Pulse Fun Facts (via Daily Post).
As they approach the twilight of their legendary careers, both Messi and Ronaldo are thriving in football outside of Europe. Lionel Messi is drawing huge crowds in the US with Inter Miami, while Cristiano Ronaldo continues to set new milestones in the Middle East with Al-Nassr.
This season, Leo Messi has scored 16 goals in as many games for Inter Miami. He also won his Copa America title with Argentina, when the Albiceleste beat Colombia 1-0 in the summit clash. He returned after a two-month break due to an ankle injury he sustained during the Copa America final.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, has scored 4 goals in 5 games so far for Al Nassr. He recently etched his name into the history books by becoming the first player to score 900 goals as a professional in the history of football.
