Viral Video: In a rare and remarkable case, doctors performed complex brain surgery while keeping the patient awake throughout the operation.
A video has gone viral on social media showing a team of doctors performing a stunning brain surgery while the patient was watching a Jr NTR movie.
The operation was carried out at the Government General Hospital in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, where 55-year-old A. Ananthalakshmi underwent surgery to treat a brain tumour. This innovative method, known as “awake craniotomy”, allowed the patient to remain conscious and focused throughout the complex procedure.
The 55-year-old patient was suffering from symptoms such as numbness in her limbs and persistent headaches. She was diagnosed with a 3.3 x 2.7 cm tumor on the left side of her brain and chose the public hospital for the operation due to the high costs of treatment at private hospitals.
On the day of surgery, the medical team screened scenes from Jr NTR’s film, the patient’s favourite movie, to keep Ananthalakshmi calm and focused.
The procedure, as complex as it was unconventional, successfully removed the tumor and ensured the patient’s comfort. The video of this extraordinary operation went viral on social media.
