Officials must complete construction of urban roads by October 5: Minister

Bhubneswar News: A review meeting on the progress of various roads, bridges, buildings and important projects of the state was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Minister for Law, Public Works and Excise Department Prithviraj Harichandan. Minister Shri Harichandan chaired the meeting held at the Lok Seva Bhawan premises and discussed the status of various construction works with the officials. Minister Harichandan directed the officials to remove all hurdles and expedite the ongoing construction works. He directed all EICs, Chief Engineers and Contractors to periodically review the progress of project work with emphasis on the quality of construction work. Minister Shri Harichandan said that there will be Dussehra in the next few days. For this reason, the Public Works Department should complete the repair work of roads in all urban areas by October 5, so that the traffic system becomes smooth. Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, Veervikram Yadav, all Chief Engineers, Chief Engineers, Director General, OBCC and officials of all concerned departments were present in this meeting.

Medical schools to be created in all districts in five years: Minister

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Thursday said that medical colleges will be established in all district headquarters of the state. Speaking to reporters on the completion of 100 days of BJP rule in Odisha, he said that at present there are 11 medical colleges in the state and two more medical colleges will soon be operational in Talcher and Kandhamal. He said that fulfilling the 21 promises made by the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government, we are committed to establishing medical colleges in all district headquarters of the state within five years. He said that we are working on a plan in this regard.

Shortage of teachers in medical schools to be eliminated

Giving details of the state government’s promise, Mahalinga said that after coming to power in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made a new rule to establish medical colleges in all districts of the country. Under this, medical colleges are being established in Odisha on the basis of 60:40 partnership between the Centre and the State. Mahalinga said that we are also working to address the issue of shortage of teachers in medical colleges in the state. Very soon all vacant posts in medical colleges will be filled up.
