The Total Segregation Mission campaign has begun, 75 teams will go door to door to raise awareness

Correspondent, Patna: Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that cleanliness is among our values. It is just that we need to incorporate it in our behaviour and thoughts as well. This is the responsibility of all of us and we have to resolve to adopt cleanliness not just for a month or two but for a lifetime. He was inaugurating the ‘Total Segregation Mission’ campaign organised by the Urban Development and Housing Department at the Bapu Auditorium on Thursday. Under the campaign, 75 teams of the Patna Municipal Corporation will go door-to-door to create awareness among people about the need to keep wet and dry waste separate. 2,000 people have been trained for this. At the programme, Bihar Assembly Speaker Nandkishore Yadav said that to make the city clean, we will not only have to talk but also do it. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said that both ‘Total Segregation Mission’ and ‘Solid Waste Management’ are very important. Important projects for Bihar are. Even if the State has to spend Rs 5,000 crore on waste management, I, as Finance Minister, will give it. He said that if the UN team comes to Bihar during the Chhath festival, they will not find any city cleaner than Bihar compared to the rest of the country.

Children will take an oath to clean schools

While presiding over the programme, Housing and Urban Development Minister Nitin Naveen inspired people to keep dry and wet waste separate. He said that the Education Department has approved to keep two garbage bins in every school. Besides, soon children will also take the cleanliness oath in every school like a prayer. The Education Minister has given his nod. He said that we all have been involved in door-to-door cleanliness in Patna. Now we have to move to the second level and adopt segregation. We cannot use waste without segregating it. He said that we will go to 500 schools in Patna and motivate children to write “a letter to their parents”.

The country will change only when we change.

MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the country will change only when we change. He would request the Urban Development Minister to organise a cleanliness programme during Chhath. Also, create awareness among people by visiting the dirtiest places in the city and cleaning them. MLAs Arun Kumar Sinha and Sanjeev Chaurasia, Mayor Sita Sahu, MP Reshmi Chandravanshi, department secretary Abhay Singh, municipal commissioner, district councillor, stakeholders, sweepers etc. were present in the programme.
