He said the Chief Minister’s statement weakens the federal spirit of the country.

Flood management must be done in advance: Sukant Majumdar

On the flood situation in West Bengal, Union Minister Sukant Majumdar said, “The problem is that only when the problem comes upon you, you seek help from the central government. Flood management should be done in advance, what did they do in the last one year? Floods happen every year in Bengal, so the government should take action in this regard.

If we break ties with DVC, eight districts will be left without electricity.

Shubhendu Adhikari said Mamata Banerjee is making false allegations to hide the weaknesses of her government. He said pre-monsoon preparations were not made properly nor was infrastructure developed to deal with this disaster. The state government treasury is empty and funds meant for preventing floods are being siphoned off or looted unethically by her party colleagues. He said if Mamata Banerjee breaks ties with DVC, eight districts will be left without electricity. Don’t they realise that power plants run by DVC supply electricity to a large part of south Bengal?
