The pitch had a spongy bounce: Jasprit Bumrah

India’s star player, after the match, said that the pitch had movement for the bowlers and a spongy bounce. He added that after seeing the pitch before the game, the Indian team had also planned to bowl first but unfortunately, the pitch did not go the way they wanted. Bumrah further stated that when he got the ball on the second day, he planned to mix fuller pitches with short balls to make the most of both the swing and bounce of the pitch.

Bumrah was seen setting up the Bangladeshi batsmen with consistent short deliveries before diving hard into the stumps. The wickets of opener Shadman Islam and Taskin Ahmed were excellent examples of how he executed his plans.

Apart from this, Indian pace bowler Ravindra Jadeja, who also took two wickets, said that some balls were staying low and confusing the batsmen, resulting in them bowling weak shots. Notably, Litton Das took a thumping sweep off Jadeja, which went into the air and into the hands of stand-in fielder Dhruv Jurel, making the game completely tilt in India’s favour.
