Uber partners with Shadowfax to strengthen its bike-taxi services UberMoto

Ride-sharing giant Uber has announced a strategic partnership with Shadowfaxa Bengaluru-based logistics services provider, to strengthen its UberMoto bike taxi services.

By leveraging Shadowfax’s large fleet of over 200,000 two-wheelers, the partnership will enhance UberMoto’s service by increasing its pool of drivers and expanding its reach to more cities across India.

Uber aims to offer more reliable and affordable bike-sharing options to users, particularly in regions where UberMoto has limited availability.

Third Party Integration to Improve Efficiency

The partnership will enable integration of Uber’s platform with Shadowfax’s driver app through a third-party application programming interface (API). This allows rides requested on UberMoto to be matched with Shadowfax drivers, who will make the ride through their app.

Despite this backend integration, Uber assured users that the booking experience for passengers on the Uber app will remain the same.

Benefits for drivers and passengers

The partnership brings mutual benefits to both Uber and Shadowfax, as well as their drivers and passengers. For Uber, expanded access to a larger driver base will help improve service reliability, while Shadowfax drivers will be able to supplement their income during lean hours by switching to UberMoto services.

Uber Business Development Director Arnab Kumar described the partnership as a “win-win strategy,” highlighting how it creates additional income opportunities for drivers while improving the availability of Uber services.

“At Shadowfax, we are committed to driving innovation and adding value for our drivers and delivery partners. Through this unique integration, we are set to become India’s most diversified 3PL player, offering the first app where all forms of revenue opportunities are available. Our ‘One App, All Opportunities’ platform will enable our partners to tap into new revenue streams, whether through last-mile deliveries or mobility solutions like UberMoto,” said Praharsh Chandra, Chief Business Officer and Co-Founder, Shadowfax.

Expanding to more cities

Uber will leverage Shadowfax’s extensive network to bring UberMoto to more towns and cities where it does not currently operate.

The move will help Uber expand its presence in the autorickshaw market in India. The association already operates in several cities and is expected to continue growing in the coming months.

Currently, the Bengaluru-based startup operates in over 2,500 cities and 18,000 PIN codes across the country.
