If you are planning a spontaneous vacation or preparing for an upcoming trip, here are some destinations in India and around the world that are facing natural, geopolitical or health issues, making it difficult for travelers to explore them.

Geopolitical concerns

Iran: The Indian government on Wednesday issued a travel advice to all Indian citizens amid the war situation between Iran and Israel, urging citizens to avoid non-essential travel. “We are closely monitoring the recent escalation of the security situation in the region. Indian citizens are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Iran. Those currently residing in Iran are requested to remain vigilant and in touch with the Indian Embassy in Tehran,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

Natural Disasters

Nepal: Nepal is facing severe flooding, landslides and heavy rains causing widespread havoc. In response, India issued an advisory and shared helpline numbers. Television footage showed police rescuers recovering 16 bodies from two buses swept away by a landslide near Kathmandu a few days ago. As of last Monday, at least 192 people had died and 32 were still missing after two days of heavy rain. The Nepalese Ministry of the Interior reported that security agencies, including the Army and Police, have rescued about 4,500 people affected by the disaster.

Health concerns

Africa: The escalation of the Mpox outbreak in Africa has caused a global health emergency. The Africa CDC declared its first Mainland Safety Public Health Emergency, while the WHO issued its highest alert, a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. At this time, the Democratic Republic of the Congo remains the epicenter of the disease, accounting for the majority of cases and deaths. But India also recently detected suspected cases of Mpox, which put the country on alert for this viral disease.
