TAKEUCHI Takuro appointed as new Chief Representative of JICA India Office

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has announced the appointment of TAKEUCHI Takuro as the new Chief Representative of its Office in India, effective September 23, 2024.

Takeuchi replaces SAITO Mitsunori, who concluded his tenure at JICA India after three years and one month of service.

Takeuchi’s experience

Takeuchi brings with him vast experience of more than 27 years at JICA, where he has held key leadership positions in several divisions. Most recently, he served as Senior Director of the General Affairs Division of the Department of General Affairs, where he played a key role in the development of JICA’s institutional strategy and management.

His previous experience also includes Senior Director of South Asia Division 1, which oversees India, as well as Director of Human Resources and South Asia Division 4, which is responsible for operations in Bangladesh and Nepal.

Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) to India began in 1958, with India being the first recipient of a Japanese ODA loan. Since then, over JPY 8,255.3 billion (as of March 2024, approximately Rs 4.4 lakh crore) has been committed to support over 333 public sector projects in India, spanning transportation, water and sanitation, energy, healthcare and forestry.

JICA aims to continue supporting India’s development path through projects aimed at promoting sustainable development and growth of the country.
