National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said his party would not forge a post-poll alliance with the BJP for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We cannot go with the BJP. The vote we have got here is the vote against the BJP. The difficulties they put the Muslims in, they demolished their shops, houses, mosques and schools, do you think we will go with them?” Abdullah said PTI videos here.

He said that the BJP did not give mandate to a single Muslim in the parliamentary elections nor is there a single Muslim minister in the Union Cabinet.
“I think our people will not vote for the BJP. If they (the BJP) think they will form the government, then they live in a cuckoo world,” the National Conference (NC) chief added.
The NC had on Friday said it was not in touch with any political party other than the INDIA bloc for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The party’s clarification came amid speculation that it was involved in clandestine deliberations with the BJP for government formation.
Asked if Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid, who is out on bail, was a factor in the assembly polls, Abdullah said he does not see any factor.
“Whoever is with them (BJP), they will be finished,” the former Union minister said.
Both the NC and the PDP have termed Rashid as a representative and agent of the BJP.
When asked about his expectations from the exit polls, which will be announced later in the day, Abdullah said he had never believed in them.
“The votes are in the polls. On October 8th we will know exactly what goes in and who goes out. Who has the majority and who doesn’t, so let’s wait until October 8th. I don’t believe in exit polls. I have never believed on them and I never will,” Abdullah said.
“Everything is speculation and I do not agree with speculation. Let the boxes be opened, we will know who is and where,” he added.
Responding to a question about the prime ministerial candidate, the NC president said it will be decided after the results are announced.
“We are rushing. Let’s see the results first, then they will sit and decide who will be the CM,” Abdullah said.
“Even if you have the absolute majority, you can’t say who will be what, what will happen. I’m going to wait until all the boxes are open and the votes are counted, we will know where everyone stands,” he added. .
When asked about the Haryana Assembly elections, Abdullah said the Congress will win there with a majority.
“I tell you that I have seen what people say or what they have suffered because of it,” the NC chief said.
