Shahjahanpur: a second year MBBS A student of a private medical college was found dead on campus under suspicious circumstances in Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh.
The student has been identified as Kushagra Pratap Singh (24) of Varun Arjun Medical College. The student lived on the ground floor of the hostel, which is a three-storey building.
“He was a second year MBBS student in the college. He is a resident of Gorakhpur. Today his body was found lying behind the hostel after which the police were informed,” said college principal Colonel (retd) Dr Ravindra Nath Shukla. , he told PTI.
Prima facie it appears that he fell on his own or someone pushed him, Superintendent of Police Rajesh S said.
The body has been sent for autopsy, police said, adding that the matter is being investigated.
The incident comes less than a week after a 20-year-old student jumped to her death from her eighth-floor apartment on September 30. The deceased was studying law in a university in Delhi. Citing his family’s statement, police shared that he was receiving treatment for mental health issues.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Sahibabad) Rajneesh Kumar Upadhiyai said, “The law student lived here with her parents in a group housing society. On Monday, she jumped out of the apartment and died. Her parents told the police that she had been depressed. for about once.” “It has been a year and a half since he consulted NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) in Bengaluru for his treatment.”
The body has been sent for autopsy. The Uttar Pradesh police have sought documents related to the student’s treatment at NIMHANS to verify whether she was really struggling with mental health issues and the parents have successfully provided proof of the inquiry. Police further said that legal proceedings are underway in the case.
