October 9th witnesses the fatal attack by the Taliban on a 15-year-old girl in history. To suppress the voice of Malala Yousafzai, who advocated for girls’ education in Pakistan and which was echoed around the world through the ‘BBC’ in the name of Gul Makai, the Taliban attacked her and tried to kill her by shooting her in the head.
This attack on Malala while she was returning home from school was fatal, but Malala’s courage was not low either. After lengthy treatment in Britain, he recovered and once again became involved in his campaign. Malala, who is the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, is in favor of also educating the children of terrorists, so that they understand the importance of education and peace.

- 1970: Production of uranium 233 at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay.
- 1976: International direct dial telephone service begins, with connectivity between Bombay (now Mumbai) and London.
- 1990: The first locally built oil tanker, ‘Motilal Nehru’, was handed over to the Shipping Corporation of India. It was built by Kochi Shipyard Limited.
- 1991: For the first time in the 1,500-year history of sumo wrestling, it was organized outside of Japan. This wrestling competition was organized within the framework of the Japan Festival at the famous Royal Albert Hall in London, Great Britain.
- 1997: Italian writer Darío Fo receives the Nobel Prize for Literature.
- 2004: For the first time in the history of Afghanistan, the people participated in the vote to elect the president of their choice. Hamid Karzai emerged victorious from the elections. After the fall of the Taliban in the country in 2001, Karzai served as interim president.
- 2012: Taliban gunmen shot Malala Yousafzai, a 15-year-old speaker advocating for girls’ education in Pakistan, in the head. Malala survived this deadly attack.
- 2023: Announcement of the Nobel Prize in Economics to Harvard University professor Claudia Goldin for improving the understanding of discrimination between men and women in the labor market.
