About working on the series.

In an exclusive press conference with select media, of which Hindustan Times was a part, Colin spoke about working on the series The Penguin, which airs on JioCinema Premium in India, and getting the look.

“As an active actor for more than 25 years. I’ve been to some parts of the world, I’ve been on extraordinary situations, like crazy adventures… Burbank (filming location for The Penguin) wasn’t the most exotic destination I’d been to, but it was. “One of the most magical days I have had as an actor,” he said.

The actor continued: “The word ‘divine’ is not out of place because there was a group of artists gathered and all feeling nervous, all feeling under crazy pressure, all knowing that it was this movie, The Batman, that was going to be made. . and we were trying to reinvent and revitalize this character that had been honored through decades of comic book history, film iterations, and television iterations. And everyone was getting screwed and it was just a little bit and then a little bit and then the monkey went on and then that, the hair and then this and then that.”

Things changed when she saw the whole look in the mirror. Since then there was no turning back.

Getting into character

The actor is receiving rave reviews for the way he has gotten into character with makeup and prosthetics. The actor disappears under a pile of prosthetics created by his pockmarked skin, drooping chin and crooked nose, not to mention his fat suit. On a candid note, he revealed that he was always the last one to leave the set.

“The first makeup test we did, which was a few years ago, before the Batman movie… I went into the soundstage in the middle of the sunlight and came out around eight or nine at night and daylight. It was finished… There was the costume, there were the people who were designing the costume. “There was an art that was doing the teeth and there was someone that was doing the hair and it was just extraordinary to see this village of people come together to bring this character to life,” he said.

The Cassandra’s Dream actor admitted: “It was the first time at work, as an actor, that I came in before the crew and left after. The actors generally have a great time. We come in after everyone, we leave before everyone and we get paid more. But I entered before, we entered before everyone, we started at four thirty, at five in the morning and, uh, and we left at nine or ten at night.”

That’s why he wants to take ownership of the character a little, as Collin says, “it always takes a village to bring a character to life.”

“For 25 years as an actor, I have relied on and been the beneficiary of incredibly detailed work from makeup departments and makeup artists. Incredible work from costume and costume designers. They play a huge role in creating characters for you, regardless of what the situation is. The story is,” the Golden Globe-winning star mentioned.

About the makeup process

It’s often easy to get lost while hiding under multiple layers of makeup. But that was not the case Colin.

“I recognize myself in the way I remember the day, I remember the scene, I remember the feelings, I remember those kinds of things… I have that kind of context and reference points only through memory and it’s all time spent. “Filming this and bringing it to life with the great team we had and the incredible cast, it is still very vivid in my memory,” said the 48-year-old.

Concluding, he shared, “It was an absolute freedom to be able to be buried under all of these things and have carte blanche behaviorally to explore this character.”
