Mumbai Police will not be able to take custody of Lawrence Bishnoi, Home Ministry said; There is danger if they bring it to light.

Lawrence Bishnoi News: Mumbai Police is facing huge difficulties in taking custody of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Due to the order of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bishnoi cannot be detained by any state agency or police from August 30, 2023 to August 30, 2024 as per CrPC 268.

This order was issued fearing deterioration of law and order, stating that there could be danger if Bishnoi is released from jail. According to sources, this order has been extended for another year, making it almost impossible for the Mumbai Police to take care of Bishnoi. However, the agencies can go to Sabarmati jail and interrogate him.

Mumbai Police unable to locate Lawrence Bishnoi

Lawrence Bishnoi’s name is on everyone’s lips these days, many people have memorized his criminal history. However, such a criminal cannot and will never be anyone’s role model. These criminals can only be punished when the police can take custody of them and gather complete information about their crimes and associates, so that the crime can be proven in court. But in the case of Lawrence Bishnoi, this is not possible for the Mumbai Police. The Mumbai Crime Branch is facing a lot of difficulties in getting custody of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, lodged in Sabarmati jail, even though he figures in several high-profile cases.

Many petitions were filed to take custody of Lawrence.

Let us tell you that in April this year, Lawrence Bishnoi’s name also appeared in the shooting incident in front of Salman Khan’s house. After this, the Mumbai Police filed several petitions to take custody of him, but none of them were accepted. Recently, Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang claimed responsibility for the murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, and the Mumbai Police is investigating Lawrence’s role. The three accused arrested in this case said that they are associated with Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.

What is the reason for the stay in custody?

The main reason for Mumbai Police not getting custody of Lawrence Bishnoi is the Union Home Ministry’s order prohibiting his removal from Sabarmati Jail. The order under section 268 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) allows the government to restrict the movement of high-profile prisoners so that law and order is not affected. This order was previously in effect until August 2024, but has now been extended for one year.

Like David, he created a network through crime.

Lawrence Bishnoi was shifted from Tihar jail to Sabarmati central jail in August 2023 in a cross-border drug smuggling case. There are many serious cases registered against him, in which he had also taken responsibility for the attack on Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. While in prison, his gang is led by three prominent foreign-based criminals: Anmol Bishnoi, Goldie Brar and Rohit Godar. The NIA charge sheet claims that his syndicate is expanding rapidly, just as Dawood Ibrahim had established his network through petty crimes in the 1990s.
