Redmi has unveiled the A4 5G, its latest budget smartphone. The company claims that it will “revolutionize the entry-level smartphone experience in India by providing enhanced 5G connectivity to millions of people.” The new Redmi A4 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 platform, which debuted in India at Qualcomm’s special event in July. Priced under Rs 10,000, the Redmi A4 5G will be the company’s latest smartphone to offer 5G connectivity.
“Designed exclusively for the Indian market, it embodies our vision of ‘5G for all’, bridging the digital divide,” said Muralikrishnan B, President, Xiaomi India. “With this device, we aim to accelerate India’s shift towards 5G, offering an enhanced entry-level smartphone experience.”
Muralikrishnan added that the new Redmi A4 5G will be part of the company’s vision of selling 70 crore 5G-enabled devices in the next decade, “continuing to redefine connectivity for all.”
Redmi’s parent company Xiaomi has partnered with Qualcomm for the exclusive launch. The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip brings “a host of powerful features,” improved CPU performance, optimized entertainment experiences, and AI-powered audio. Although the company did not reveal details such as the display panel and the size or features of the speakers. The smartphone was showcased at Xiaomi’s booth at the annual conference. It has a camera island with four round-shaped cutouts on the back, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a waterdrop-style notch on the display. Since the device was not turned on, it is not clear whether the smartphone uses regular Android or its Go edition.
“The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 was designed with the vision of enabling consumers to enjoy the benefits of 5G connectivity,” said Savi Soin, Senior Vice President and President, Qualcomm India.
The new Qualcomm chip uses a 4nm processing node, similar to that of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, which supports up to 90 fps on Full-HD+ displays, dual 12-bit ISP cameras, Gigabit 5G model and dual-frequency GNSS (L1 + L5), including India’s NavIC.
