NID DAT 2025: The application process for the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) prelims is also underway at the National Institute of Design (NID) for admission to the B.Des program for the academic session 2025-26. The special thing is that apart from science subjects, students of other subjects can also get admission into NID’s BDES program through this entrance exam.
Campus and Specialization
A bachelor’s degree in Animation Film Design, Exhibition Design, Film and Video Communication, and Graphic Design can be obtained from the Faculty of Communication Design at NID’s Ahmedabad Campus. There is an option to pursue BEDS in Ceramic and Glass Design, Furniture and Interior Design and Product Design from NID College of Industrial Design, Ahmedabad while BEDS can be pursued with specialization in Textile Design from College of Textiles, Clothing and Lifestyle. and Accessories Design. There is an option to pursue a Bachelor of Education with specialization in Communication Design, Industrial Design, Textile and Apparel Design from NID campuses in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Assam. Qualifications required for the test.
Candidates who have passed 12th in any of the subjects like Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, etc. from a recognized board in the year 2024-2025 can apply for this entrance exam. In addition, the candidate must have been born on or after July 1, 2004.
Test pattern and date
The NID Design Aptitude Test will be carried out in two stages. Stage 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims, Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains. DAT Prelims will be held on January 5, 2025. Prelims are a paper and pencil/pen test. Questions asked may include text and visuals. Based on the merit of DAT Prelims, shortlisted candidates will be eligible to appear for DAT Mains. The DAT prelims will be organized in 22 cities across the country including Patna, Ranchi and Kolkata.
