UGC NET Result 2024: Only 6,84,224 of the 11,21,225 registered candidates appeared for the UGC NET exam held in August-September, the result of which was announced on Thursday. Compared with the June examwhich was conducted in hybrid mode (CBT + pencil and paper), 2,24,356 fewer candidates took the new test, which was conducted in online mode (computer-based test).
On June 18, as many as 9,08,580 candidates appeared for the eligibility test for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), admission of assistant professors and PhDs, registering an attendance of 81 per cent, down from 73.6 percent in December of last year.
The June UGC NET was canceled a day after the exam. In a public notice, the government said the integrity of the exam may have been compromised. For the first time, the test was held in a single day and in hybrid mode.
For the new exam, the NTA reverted to the previous method of conducting the exam online, using multiple days and shifts.
The reexamination was carried out on August 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30 and September 2, 3, 4 and 5.
The agency released provisional and final answer keys for the test before announcing the result. Some questions were removed from the final answer key, thus giving full marks to all candidates who attempted the removed questions.
UGC NET Reexamination Result in Numbers
Of the total number of candidates registered for the CGU NETWORK In the exam, 6,35,588 were women, 4,85,578 were men and 59 were candidates of the third gender, the agency said.
A total of 4,970 candidates have qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), 53,694 for Assistant Professor only and 1,12,070 for PhD admissions only, it added.
