UPSC ESE 2024 exam postponed! Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) after changes in the recruitment scheme for railway officers. As per the official notice, the preliminary exam will now be held on June 8, 2025 and the main exam on August 10, 2025.

To provide opportunities to candidates as per the revised norms, UPSC has reopened the ESE 2025 application window. Interested and eligible candidates can apply UPSC ES 2025 exam from October 18 to November 22.

“Taking into account the Government’s decision to include IRMS in ESE, 2025, the opening of the correction window from 09/10/2024 (i.e. from the day following the last date for receipt of the application (08/10. 2024)) was suspended. ” reads the official UPSC notice.

Through ESE, Indian Railways will hire civil, electrical, mechanical, signals and telecommunication and warehouse sub-cadres.

The central government restored the old policy of recruiting railway officers through Civil Services Examination (CSE) and Engineering Services Examination (ESE) conducted by UPSC. The Ministry of Railways took a 180-degree turn in its decision to conduct recruitment through the Indian Railway Management Service IRMS exam.
