Maheep Kapoor I had a bad time recently. She was worried about her daughter, Shanaya Kapoor, launching into the film industry and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. On an episode of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, she spoke to her husband, actor Sanjay Kapoor, about how the deaths of Sridevi and Mona Kapoor affected her children. ‘I could see it when I woke up in the ICU’
Maheep revealed in an episode that she contracted Covid-19 in December 2021 and, in March 2022, she was diagnosed with “severe type 1 diabetes.” One day when Sanjay was in Los Angeles, she called him feeling bad because her “sugar level was at 700.”
Detailing his side of things, Sanjay said, “You were lucky that you were hospitalized immediately. Memory Shanaya I was in Mannat (Shah Rukh Khan’s house). I said, you leave immediately. He was constantly in touch with Kannu (nephew, Mohit Marwah). Kannu literally dragged you and put you in the car. “If you hadn’t gone, you could have gone into a coma.”
Maheep said his nephew “saved his life” and that doctors told him he may have suffered organ failure. “I have never spoken to them about the children (Shanaya, Jahaan). And how they dealt with the whole situation,” he told Sanjay, adding: “I could see it in their faces when I woke up in the ICU, they were scared. You know, somewhere, that happened with Sri (Sridevi) and Mona, affected the children so deeply that they were shocked.”
Sanjay also said that he saw Shanaya “grow in those three days” as she took phone calls, spoke to doctors and coordinated with the family while Maheep was hospitalized. Sanjay’s brother Boney Kapoor’s first wife, Mona, died after battling cancer in 2012. His second wife, Sridevi, drowned in a bathtub in Dubai in 2018.
