As she considers her career options, Dhairya Karwa acknowledges that one good project “can change everything.”
Now that digital streaming platforms are redefining the entertainment landscape, on-screen visibility is more important than ever. Actor Dhairya Karwa, however, considers it vital to be aware of the projects he signs up for. “Everyone has their own way of being seen: if they don’t see you, they will forget you or, the harder you work, the more you will remain in people’s minds. But for me it’s not just about filling gaps in my filmography,” says the actor who was recently seen in the OTT show Gyaarah Gyaarah.

While he talks about his career options, Karwa recognizes that a good project “can change everything.” But he adds: “To get that good project, I prefer not to have the perception of filling gaps or interruptions with any work that comes my way… I have rejected many jobs that have been presented to me. I have some clarity: I don’t know if it’s right or wrong, but I continue with my plan.”
The actor also notes that OTT has been instrumental in enabling more adventurous storytelling: “I think, first and foremost, [OTT provides] freedom to judge a film by its box office numbers. In the case of theaters, tickets ultimately have to be sold; “You have to work within the periphery of a certain formula of what can please the public.”
As streaming exposes audiences to content from around the world, the 33-year-old feels this variety has encouraged creators to take more risks. “I think as creators we have to be really alert to find unique and interesting stories, stories told with a unique twist, with a new perspective. That is my hope: to continue pushing the limits, to continue telling new stories and to keep our viewers interested, intrigued and entertained,” he concludes.
