Tata Motors on Monday announced that it has been awarded a major contract by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) to supply 1,000 Tata LPO 1618 diesel bus chassis.

The local automaker explained that this order was obtained through a competitive electronic bidding process, as part of the Government’s official bidding procedure.

Anand S, Vice President and Head of Commercial Passenger Vehicles Business at Tata Motors, said in a company statement: “We are delighted to continue partnering with UPSRTC in their efforts to expand and improve public transport. The Tata LPO bus chassis 1618 is designed to deliver robust and reliable mobility with high uptime, along with low operating and maintenance costs.”

The delivery of these bus chassis will be done in phases, as per the terms mutually agreed upon by Tata Motors and UPSRTC.

This latest order follows the completion of a larger contract by Tata Motors for 1,350 bus chassis for UPSRTC, which are already in operation. These vehicles have been instrumental in supporting UPSRTC’s goal of expanding and improving public transportation services across the state.

Tata Motors says its LPO 1618 chassis is designed to meet the demands of inter-city and long-distance travel, offering great performance, passenger comfort and low total cost of ownership in both urban and rural environments.
