Blockchain takes center stage at 2024 Global Data Ecosystems Conference in Shanghai

This year’s Global Data Ecosystem Conference, held in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, ended positively. The two-day technology conference was very special because it focused on the popular blockchain technology, related applications, and other emerging innovations.

More than 30 events were held during the conferencecovering various topics including blockchain technology, international data cooperation, data and its value to industries, and an initiative to connect data service providers. Shanghai was the perfect host for the global conference, which organizers hope can lead to the exploration of new data and blockchain technologies.

Global conference on data ecosystems highlights digital economy

This year’s Global Data Ecosystem Conference is the fourth in the series organized by Yicai. The Shanghai Data Service Providers Association and Shanghai Data Group co-sponsored the conference, with additional support from the Shanghai Data Office and Pudong District.

The conference highlighted progress in the digital economy and served as a platform for data providers to connect and build relationships. To foster collaboration in the data space and digital economy, the National Data Group Alliance was also launched. It is the first ‘rights organization’ for data companies in China that aims to create a community and promote growth in the industry.

Data and blockchain technology companies to strengthen international cooperation

In addition to data and block chain topics, the conference highlights the growing partnership between data and technology organizations. Participants, including the International Data Space Association, Hong Kong Chamber of Digital and Data Commerce and SG Tech, formed a year-round collaboration and sharing mechanism. The collaboration between these organizations aims to support local merchants while helping them grow internationally.

During the discussions, participants agreed that Shanghai could continue to support public data sharing and openness, building data centers and promoting an excellent digital business environment.

In the future, Shanghai will further promote the sharing and openness of public data, innovate in the development and utilization of public data, build an excellent ecological environment for digital businesses, and promote the construction of international data centers. Last year, the city’s digital economy exceeded CNY 600 billion ($84.5 billion).

Shanghai as the perfect host to explore advanced technologies

Shanghai’s Pudong New Area is the perfect hub for initiatives that promote new technologies and innovation, such as blockchain. According to Shen Zhulin, deputy director of the National Data Administration, Shanghai can pioneer the latest technology. Shen adds that it is one of the main regions selected to launch trials to reduce transaction costs and data circulation while promoting orderly, secure and compliant data flow.
