Ranji Trophy: Recovering from a crushing loss to Baroda in the first match, defending champions Mumbai got their campaign back on track by defeating Maharashtra by 9 wickets in the second match of Group A of the Ranji Trophy.
Chasing the target of 74 runs to win, Mumbai scored 13 runs without losing on Sunday. He could not get the extra point due to the dismissal of Ayush Mhatre (15). Prithvi Shaw (39 runs off 36 balls) and Hardik Tamor (21 not out off 26 balls) led the team to victory in 13.3 overs.
Mumbai defeated Maharashtra
In the first match, the 42-time champion Mumbai team was defeated by Baroda by 84 runs. After bowling out Maharashtra for 126 runs in the first innings, Mumbai scored 441 runs with the help of 17-year-old Mhatre’s 176 runs and Shreyas Iyer’s 142 runs. Maharashtra scored 388 runs in the second innings, but it was insufficient.
Tripura defeats Meghalaya
Tripura beat Meghalaya by an innings and 17 runs in Shillong. Replying to Tripura’s 377 runs for eight wickets, Meghalaya scored 222 and 138 runs. In Delhi, young Mahesh Pithiya’s career-best performance of nine wickets for 169 runs (six wickets in the second innings) helped Baroda register a 65-run victory over Army.

Chasing the challenging target of 341 runs, the Army team set out to complete 275 runs. Pithiya received full support from 19-year-old fast bowler Raj Limbani (three wickets for 47 runs). For Army, Arjun Sharma top-scored with 79 not out, while Rajat Paliwal and Lavkesh Basal scored 47 and 39 runs respectively.
This was Baroda’s second consecutive win this season. The match between Jammu and Kashmir and Odisha ended in a draw in Cuttack.
