UPSC ESE 2025: Engineering Services Prelims, Main Exams Postponed to Include Railway Exams, Applications Reopened

He Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2025 and reopened the application window for new applicants after a change in the scheme for hiring Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) officials.

The decision came after the Union government decided that recruitment for the IRMS would be done through both the Civil Services Examinations and the ESE.

“In order to give enough time to the ESE 2025 aspirants to prepare for the exam, the Commission has also decided to postpone the ESE (preliminary) and ESE (main) exam 2025. The ESE (preliminary) 2025 and ESE (main) exam main) ) 2025 will now be held on June 8, 2025 and August 10, 2025 respectively,” the UPSC notification said.

The UPSC further said that the new application window for new applicants will open on October 18 and close on November 22. Subsequently, the correction window will open for 7 days from November 23, during which candidates will be able to edit their details.

“Now the Commission has decided to open the new application period from October 18, 2024 to November 22, 2024 for new applicants and also allow old applicants (who applied during the original application period from September 18 to October 8, 2024) make changes. Appendix. Thereafter, all applicants will be provided with a 7-day correction/editing period from November 23, 2024 to November 29, 2024 during which they can modify/edit their details,” the notification added.

Taking into account the government’s decision to include the IRMS in the ESE-2025, the opening of the correction window effective October 9, 2024 (starting the day after the last date of receipt of the application, October 8) was put on hold, it said.

Candidates should note that those applicants who have already applied during the application period starting from September 18 to October 8 do not need to apply again. However, they can update their data during the new application window and the correction/editing window, if necessary.
