Additionally, he was honored twice by the American Federation of Indian Muslims for his achievements and service to the Muslim community in India. The Government of India honored him posthumously with the Padma Shri in the year 2019.

Apart from this, he wrote dialogues for films like Chaila Babu, Mahachor, Dharam Kanta, Fifty-Fifty, Masterji, Naya Kadam, Hidayat. All of these films were box office hits. The list of other hit films includes Himmatwala, Jaani Dost, Sarfarosh, Justice Chaudhary, Farz Aur Kanoon, Jio Aur Jeene Do, Tohfa, Qaidi and Hasitta.
