The collaboration seeks to formalize companies run by rural women, providing them with the tools and resources necessary to grow and enter the formal economy.
Targeting six key districts in Maharashtra
The initiative, under the ‘Formal Registration and Digital Market Linkage Program for Women Entrepreneurs’, is designed to reach out to women in six districts of Maharashtra: Ahmednagar, Beed, Buldhana, Latur, Sindhudurg and Kolhapur.
The main objective of the program is to help these women formalize their businesses by providing them with necessary documentation and business records such as FSSAI licenses and Udyam registrations.
In doing so, it aims to create sustainable livelihoods for women and foster economic independence.
Training and market links
One of the most notable features of this program is its comprehensive training component. Local Resource Persons (LRPs) were trained on government schemes and formalization processes.
These PRLs, in turn, provided training to rural women entrepreneurs, offering them guidance and ongoing support.
This initiative also provided business connections for 250 women through digital market linkages, enabling them to access online platforms such as MSME Global Mart, GEM, UMEED Mart and ONDC to grow their businesses.
Empowering women through financial inclusion
The initiative is aligned with BharatPe’s corporate social responsibility programme, BharatPe Cares.
Nalin Negi, CEO of BharatPe, emphasized the importance of this program in promoting financial inclusion. She highlighted BharatPe’s commitment to unlocking opportunities for women entrepreneurs, particularly those in rural areas, by offering them tools to formalize and expand their businesses.
The initiative is part of BharatPe’s broader mission to drive inclusive financial empowerment across India.
Rostow Ravanan, Chairman, Nasscom Foundation, echoed similar sentiments and emphasized how the program aligns with Nasscom’s objectives of fostering sustainable livelihoods and economic independence for women in rural areas.
By providing essential training and access to market linkages, the association enables women entrepreneurs to thrive and contribute to India’s economic growth.
