In this felicitation ceremony, former president of Wrestling Association, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, honored Pandrikripal and the 10 most meritorious students of Jhanjhari and Gonda block by presenting them with medals and citations. During this, he said that in the last assembly elections, the BJP had won more seats in the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance.
The fighters had accused Brijbhushan Singh
Earlier, on January 18, 2023, around 30 wrestlers, including wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, sat in protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi against the then president of Indian Wrestling Association, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. During this time, these wrestlers had made many serious allegations against Brij Bhushan Singh, including sexual exploitation. First, the Ministry of Sports intervened in this matter and the wrestlers had to end their strike. The ministry later formed a committee to investigate the allegations and instead of firing Brij Bhushan, he was asked to stay away from his job. However, during this time he continued to plead his innocence. Later on April 21, 2023, seven female wrestlers, including a minor wrestler, lodged a sexual exploitation complaint against Brij Bhushan with the Delhi Police.
Despite the victory in the last elections, the Shiv Sena backfired.
The Shiv Sena and BJP alliance had secured 161 seats out of a total of 288 in Maharashtra. Of them, Shiv Sena won 56 seats and the BJP won 105 seats. This alliance together had crossed the magic figure of majority in the Maharashtra elections. A total of 145 seats are needed to form a government; the Maharashtra Assembly surpassed this figure and won a total of 161 seats, up 16 seats. After this victory, Shiv Sena reneged on its promise. And Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray started saying in the media that our matter was decided by the Chief Minister for two and a half years. Last time you ruled for 5 full years, so this time I will be the CM first.
Revolt in Shiv Sena in June 2022 and division of the party into two factions
In June 2022, there was a rebellion in Shiv Sena and Eknath Shinde rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray and camped in Assam with some MLAs. During this time, the Shiv Sena leaders continued to threaten him, but the number of rebel MLAs continued to increase and gradually this number increased so much that Uddhav had to lose not only the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra but also the Shiv Sena party. Uddhav had lost Shiv Sena Bhawan, the party symbol, the bow and arrow, everything. Now only the name of his party remains, Shiv Sena.
