Swiggy’s fast commerce arm Swiggy Instamart has reportedly entered into a association with PharmEasy to deliver prescription medications in 10 minutes, according to a report from money control.
Although drink Not yet making an official announcement, Instamart has already been delivering over-the-counter (OTC) medications, including pain-relieving sprays, as part of its existing service.
The latest partnership marks Swiggy’s biggest expansion in the e-pharmacy market, aiming to reach a broader user base who need quick access to medicines.
The report says that the service is currently being piloted in Bengaluru, where Swiggy will deliver essential medicines like pain relievers, fever treatments and other prescription medicines.
Leveraging PharmEasy infrastructure
An important aspect of this partnership is the unique ‘store-in-store’ setup, where PharmEasy stores operate inside Swiggy’s dark stores – localized storage facilities for quick deliveries.
This setup would allow Swiggy to quickly fulfill medication orders, especially those that require regulatory compliance, such as prescription medications. The pilot in Bengaluru will serve as a base for future expansions and, if successful, could bring the service to more cities.
Swiggy Instamart competes with Zomato-owned Blinkit, Zepto and Bigbasket.
Swiggy IPO
Zomato’s rival Swiggy is likely to launch its mega IPO for public subscription between November 6 and 8, 2024, Moneycontrol reported. The report says the Bengaluru-based company is targeting an IPO valuation of around $11.3 billion.
The report further said that the principal component of the issue has been expanded to around Rs 4,500 crore, and the offer for sale component has also been modified based on investor participation.
