Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi launches online grievance redressal portal for rice millers

Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday, October 27, 2024, announced the launch of an online grievance redressal portal in a bid to address the concerns of rice millers. Designed to expedite the resolution of issues faced by rice millers, the portal will particularly focus on those related to transportation costs and delays in the procurement process. Minister Joshi highlighted that the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has delegated powers to the regional level to manage the additional transportation costs incurred by rice millers. This provision will go into effect if there is no space available in the designated warehouses after a 15-day waiting period.

Furthermore, the minister assured that necessary customizations have been made to the procurement portal to address previous concerns. He stressed that the problem has already been resolved to the satisfaction of the millers.

Regarding procurement targets, Joshi reiterated that the government is committed to fully achieving the target of 185 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) set for the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2024-25.
