A drunk taxi driver and his alleged lover were found dead inside a car in Dehradun

DehradunThe bodies of a taxi driver and his alleged lover were found inside a car in Dehradun on Monday.

Police have launched an investigation as the cause of death is unknown and nothing suspicious was found at the scene.

The victims were identified as Rajesh Sahu (50) and Maheshwari Devi (45), according to police.

The car, with the two bodies inside, was discovered on Nagal Wali Road behind Sahastradhara helipad in Rajpur police station area. Reports indicate that the engine and air conditioner were still running when the car was found.

On receiving information, a team from the local police station reached the spot, where both Sahu and Devi were found to be intoxicated.

The car was owned by Sahu, who drove it as a taxi. Devi, his alleged lover, was a widow, a police officer said.

A forensic team inspected the scene but found nothing suspicious. The victims’ families also do not suspect foul play.

Further investigations are underway but prima facie it appears that both individuals died after consuming excessive alcohol. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the exact cause of death will be ascertained after receiving the post-mortem report, a police official said.
