A man finds a cockroach in a dal that was delivered on the Vande Bharat Express train from Mumbai to Shirdi. Here’s what the railway workers said

New Delhi: The food served to passengers on the Vande Bharat has come to light again after a passenger found a dead cockroach in the dal served to him. This incident came to light two months after a similar incident was reported in June.

Images and videos of a recent complaint went viral on social media blogging site X.

A user named Rikki M Jeswani said in a post on August 19 that while travelling from Shirdi to Mumbai, he found a cockroach in the dal that was served for dinner on the train. He further wrote that he has filed a written complaint with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.International Centre for Scientific Research (IRCC)).

“@AshwiniVaishnaw @eCateringIRCTC @IRCTCofficial @VSOMANNA_BJP @RavneetBittu we were on Vande Bharat train now from Shirdi to Mumbai, were having dinner and found a dead cockroach in the dal… confirmed by manager… written complaint filed 16103 dt 19.08.2014… is this the new India…?” the post read.

In response to the post, another incident, saying that he was travelling on the same train where he was served “stale” cottage cheese.

“I was travelling in the same train and received rancid curd… sad thing is I also went from Mumbai to Shirdi this morning on Vande Bharat @IRCTCofficial @eCateringIRCTC. I received rancid curd in the morning too. Catering service needs to be changed immediately.”

Responding to X’s post, International Centre for Scientific Research (IRCC) He wrote: “Sir, we apologize for the inconvenience. Please send us your PNR and mobile number via direct message so that we can resolve this issue.”

In a similar incident in June, a man travelling on the new Vande Bharat Express train from Bhopal to Agra, a 550-kilometre journey, found a cockroach in the dal served to him.

The man demanded strict action against the food vendor and requested the railways to ensure that this does not happen to anyone.

“Today, 18th June 2024, my uncle and aunt were travelling from Bhopal to Agra on Vande Bharat. They found ‘COCKROACH’ in their food from @IRCTCofficial. Please take strict action against the vendor and ensure this doesn’t happen again @RailMinIndia @AshwiniVaishnaw @RailwaySe,” it read.
