West Bengal News: Asansol (West Bengal), Ramkumar/Santosh- Five people from the same family, who had gone to Peer Baba’s grave in Dishargarh area of Asansol, drowned in the Damodar river while taking a selfie. Following the incident, a woman and an eight-year-old child were rescued safely by the people present at the spot, while three people died. As soon as the news was received, NDRF and Civil Defence teams reached the spot and with the help of local people, they took part in a rescue operation in the Damodar river. The bodies of two persons have been recovered so far. The search for the third person is on.
In which river did the accident occur while bathing?
Naseema Begum, a resident of 19B Hussain Shah Road, Iqbalpur Police Station, Kolkata, along with her husband Mo Firoz (45 years), sons Mo Asif (24 years), Mo Tausif (20 years) and her youngest son, went for darshan of Pir Baba at Dishargarh Mazar Sharif. She arrived by train. Before going to Mazarsharif, she went to take bath in Damodar River. While bathing, they tried to take a selfie, in the meantime they fell into Damodar River. Though Naseema Begum and her infant son were saved by the local people with great efforts, three people lost their lives.
In which river did the NDRF carry out the rescue?
As soon as the NDRF team received the news of the accident in Damodar River, they reached the spot and started the rescue with the help of local people. For this purpose, lighting devices were installed near the Damodar River.
How many bodies were recovered out of three?
The people present at the spot made all possible efforts to save them after the accident, but only two members of the family could be rescued safely. So far, the bodies of two of the three persons (Mo Firoz and Mo Tausif) have been recovered. The NDRF team is carrying out a rescue operation in the Damodar river to find Mohd Asif.
