About eight in ten pharmaceutical and life sciences companies have adopted artificial intelligence (AI) on a small scale. However, only one in ten of these companies has integrated AI into functional procedures, according to a joint survey by Nasscom and Kantar titled “Advancing Healthcare in India: Addressing the Transformative Impact of AI.”
Using AI can reduce drug discovery costs, achieve faster time to market, and improve clinical success. It helps healthcare providers streamline the patient experience, reduce misdiagnoses, enable personalized treatments, and preventative care.
Challenges in AI adoption include lack of specialized talent, insufficient budget allocations, data complexities, and scaling issues. To expand AI in the Indian healthcare market, companies need to strengthen the foundational elements, infrastructure, skills, planning and implementation, scalability, and regulatory frameworks. The survey interviewed over 75 healthcare companies.
