The division bench headed by High Court Justice Tapobrata Chakraborty and Justice Parthasarathy Chatterjee, while approving appointments to over 14,000 vacant posts, ordered publication of a fresh merit list.

Permission granted to start recruitment process for 14,052 positions in upper primary schools

The High Court has asked the School Service Commission (SSC) to publish this list within the next four weeks. After this, the counselling process will have to be completed within the next four weeks. In its order on Wednesday, the High Court has directed to start the selection process for 14,052 posts, in which the names of 1,463 candidates whose names were not in the previous panel have also been included and the High Court has ordered to publish the panel table anew.

It is reported that in the year 2016, the state education department issued a notification for appointment of 14,339 vacant posts in the higher primary schools. It was said that the students who passed TET in 2011 and 2015 will be able to apply for this. After this, in the year 2019, the interview board was published, on which a petition was filed before the High Court raising questions and in 2020, the High Court judge Moushumi Bhattacharya cancelled the entire board and asked to publish the board again. ordered. After this, the board was published again but a case was filed against it before the High Court.

What is the problem?

This time the case was heard in a single bench of then Justice Abhijit Ganguly and the judge imposed a stay order on the new bench. Following this, the matter went to the division bench where the court gave permission to post the panel in 2023. However, the bench clarified that the SSC can release the panel but cannot recommend the appointment of any candidate. On July 18, 2024, the bench of Justice Tapobrata Chakraborty and Justice Parthasarathy Chatterjee completed the hearing of the case and pronounced the verdict on Wednesday.
