Air India to start daily direct flights between Bengaluru and London Heathrow from October 27

Tata-owned Air India will start a daily non-stop flight connecting Bengaluru to London Heathrow from October 27. This new route will link Air India’s three hubs in India directly to London Heathrow. Bookings are now available for travelers on Air India’s official website and app.

The daily non-stop flight will be operated using a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, with 18 platforms in Business Class and 238 seats in Economy. The addition will improve Air India’s weekly capacity to London Heathrow by 3,584 seats, catering to both inbound and outbound flights.

Currently, Air India operates 31 flights every week to London Heathrow from Delhi and Mumbai. The airline will also maintain 12 weekly flights to London Gatwick from Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa and Kochi.

Recently, Air India announced that following its merger with Vistara, flights previously operated by Vistara will adopt the flight code ‘AI2’ from November 12. The airline assured that the Vistara experience “will remain the same”, according to the company owned by the Tata Group. airline.

The merger combines Vistara, a collaboration between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, with Air India. In the first nine months of 2024, Air India has served over 16.4 million passengers, capturing a market share of 13.9%. Vistara followed with a market share of 9.8% and carrying 11.5 million passengers.

AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India), also part of the Tata Group, carried 6.1 million passengers during the same period, achieving a market share of 5.1 per cent, according to DGCA data.
