Akhilesh Yadav eyes Maharashtra Assembly elections, puts responsibility on these leaders

Maharashtra News: This time, the Samajwadi Party is planning to enter the electoral field in Maharashtra with full preparation. In this regard, Akhilesh Yadav organised a meeting in Lucknow. After the meeting, the Samajwadi Party appointed four leaders in charge of Mumbai and Maharashtra. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey, MP Inderjit Saroj, Toofani Saroj and Lucky Yadav have been entrusted with the responsibility of elections in Maharashtra. In these appointments, Akhilesh Yadav has also taken care of the social equation, which includes two Dalits, one backward and one Brahmin.

The state president of Samajwadi Party in Maharashtra, Abu Asim Azmi, was also called to this meeting, where a detailed discussion on the elections was held. After the meeting, it was decided that the Samajwadi Party will contest the elections in alliance with Maha Vikas Aghadi. There are 22 seats in the Mumbai assembly, where voters from North India have influence.

Akhilesh Yadav plans to contest the elections with the alliance of parties, though no talks have been held with Maha Vikas Aghadi on seat sharing. The Samajwadi Party wants to complete its preparations before the talks. Akhilesh Yadav will soon visit Mumbai, but before that the state officials have been instructed to visit Maharashtra. At the meeting held in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said that we want to contest the elections with the alliance.

In the last elections, the Samajwadi Party had contested seven seats and currently the party has two MLAs. Akhilesh Yadav said that if there is no alliance, the party will contest the elections alone but it prefers to do so in alliance with respectable associations.

The Samajwadi Party is targeting Muslim-dominated assembly seats. Currently, Abu Azmi is MLA from Shivaji Nagar and Raees Sheikh from Bhiwandi East. After a good showing in the Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh Yadav is now strategizing to strengthen his hold outside UP. Many MPs from the party visited Mumbai in July.
