Akshay Kumar on dealing with criticism amid box office failures: ‘I’ve made a lot of changes’
Akshay Kumar Everything is ready for the premiere of his long-awaited film. Khel Khel Mein Alongside Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk and others, the cast is leaving no stone unturned to promote the comedy-drama. During a recent interaction for the film, Akshay spoke about his approach to dealing with film critics.
Akshay Kumar on handling film criticism
In the conversation, the Khiladi actor shared his perspective on handling comments. He made a clear distinction between personal attacks and constructive criticism. Akshay explained to Pinkvilla, “What is the person’s story, what has he done in life? One is personal criticism, where the person gets personal. Another is the person who wants the other person to improve, which he says from the heart. So, I like that kind of criticism which I take in a very correct way, understand it and accept it. I have made a lot of changes also because of criticism. When I hear correct criticism, when I understand it and it makes sense to me, I accept it.”
The actor also addressed the negative comments he has received, particularly following some of his films not performing well at the box office. “Whatever people say, we have to try to understand. But at the same time, I am not going to stop making other types of films as well. Because sometimes I feel that I have to give the public what I feel they want,” he added.
Despite this, Akshay Kumar remains unfazed and continues to play different roles. He said, “Main nai hu… main nai hu… vo wale message nai hote jo obituary wale, condolence wale aate, are yaar. That’s why some journalist also wrote ‘don’t worry, you will be back’. I also wrote to him, why am I writing this, I will continue to work, I will always continue to work. It’s morning, I have to work, I will come back however I want, I don’t want anything from anyone. I will continue to work till I am shot.”
