If you haven’t heard the name Alicia Kaur yet, you must be living under a rock. The supermodel seems to have created a stir, thanks to her choreographed chemistry with actor Sidharth Malhotra at a recent fashion show. Alicia took the initiative and created a passionate moment with the actor, which left many newbies breathless, unaware that the moment was pre-planned.
In fact, Alicia also jokingly shared a video of the moment on her Instagram stories with the hashtag #sorrykiara. The recent haute couture fiasco, if you can call it that, begs the question: who is Alicia Kaur?
Alicia Kaur is a regular on the runways. This, as a rule, includes, but is not limited to, the FDCI’s biggest events such as Lakme Fashion Week and India Couture Week. In fact, Alicia has been walking the runway at Lakme Fashion Week, year after year, for the past decade, as she revealed in a March 2024 interview with Elle.
Most recently, Alicia was a recurring face on the runway at India Couture Week, having walked for designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Amit Aggarwal, Isha Jajodia, Jayanti Reddy, Dolly J, Kunal Rawal and Falguni Shane Peacock.
Off the catwalk, the supermodel is a top choice for high-profile campaigns, most recently Sabyasachi Bridal Couture 2024. Additionally, her YouTube channel lists her as a health coach, nutritionist, and meditation teacher.
If we go back to earlier times, Alicia has been fascinated with the idea of being a model since she was 3 years old. However, child modelling was not her thing. After multiple rejections, 45 to be exact, Alicia finally found herself signed by a reputable agency, but this did not mean the end of her struggles to make it. After leaving Australia, she tried to find her place in various places, such as China and Europe. Finally, her arrival in India gave her the much-needed boost, and she has never looked back since.
While being the epitome of health is a professional hazard for models, Alicia’s personal investment in her health and body is incredible. In the past, she has shared that one of her unwavering personal goals is to be “the healthiest person inside and out,” not just physiologically, but mentally and spiritually as well. A motto Alicia swears by is that everyone is “enough,” just the way they are.
On the personal front, Alicia was previously married to fellow model Prabh Uppal. In 2022, Alicia made a heartfelt post on her official Facebook account to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary. In the post, Alicia also categorically referred to herself and Prabh as husband and wife. In fact, Prabh has also occasionally appeared in some of Alicia’s YouTube videos.
Coming back to the present, Alicia and Prabh know how to keep things professional. The latter was also present at the fashion show where Alicia made headlines alongside Sidharth.
Trivia: This isn’t the first time Alicia has drawn attention for her antics on the entrance ramp.
Earlier this year, for Lakme Fashion Week, Alicia opened designer Shahin Mannan’s show by walking backwards. It was the first time the supermodel had done such a thing, and the unique gesture was applauded by fashion enthusiasts who lined the rows.
